JOB DESCRIPTION
A&F IT is seeking a Server Administrator to join its team that supports the Commonwealth's Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM). This position reports to the IT Lead of A&F IT supporting DCAMM.
This position requires that the candidate have skills in Windows administration (DHCP, IP configurations, network connectivity, ODBC/Redshift configurations, and domain administration) and Linux administration (including command structure, using an SU account, Putty, WINSCP and XWindows use), with some knowledge of IBM WebSphere configurations. In both environments, this individual must have skills in managing and installing SSL Certificates and Web server configurations (IIS and Apache).
In addition, an understanding Citrix system management and NetScaler configurations is ideal.
For the database functions, an understanding of SQL Server administration at a System Admin (SA) level is required as well as database and linked server creation, security configurations and SSIS and DTX packages. The use of Oracle SQLNet is ideal, as DCAMM uses both SQL Server and Oracle databases.
Primary Responsibilities
Work as part of technical team and be involved in the administration and support for both Linux and Windows servers.
Provide application support using Microsoft SSMS and Visual Studio with an understanding of ASP.NET, C#, MVC, SQL Server, jQuery and web services.
Provide server support using Domain level tools (DHCP, AD and IP configurations).
Thoroughly test all code to ensure that programs are functioning correctly.
Develop and test stored procedures, user defined functions, triggers and other objects that assist in the implementation of business rules/logic.
Design and develop relational database models/schemas.
Conduct query performance tuning and write ad-hoc queries.
Create IT documents for knowledge base, user guides and other various communications systems.
Follow established business, technical and project policies and guidelines aligned with HRD, A&F and EOTSS principles and standards to include the following: use of best practices, meeting management, project plans, status reports and dashboards, risk and issue tracking, change requests and resource management.
Collect data and report on technical metrics to be used to determine success factors using established project tools and processes during development and support.
Qualifications
Education, Skills and Competencies Minimum 5 years' experience with Server Administration
Minimum 5 years' experience with ASP.NET, C#, MVC, Web API and SQL server
5 + years' experience in SSIS and Visual Studio 2017, 2018, 2019
Expert-level JavaScript/jQuery
3 + years' experience working as a database developer using Microsoft SQL SSMS and PowerBI
Extensive experience in Microsoft SQL Server 2014/2016/2019.
Experience in Web Services (SOAP or REST)
Experience with continuous integration, deployments and troubleshooting
Experience with advanced query design, stored procedures, views and functions
Ability to work in a fast-paced Agile/Scrum environment
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to communicate with technical and business resources at many levels in a manner that supports progress and success
Ability to understand, appreciate and adapt to new business cultures and ways of working
Demonstration of initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
