Local Unit & Position Description

DNV Energy Systems North America is seeking a Database Administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will have multifaceted responsibilities and work collaboratively across software development and support teams to Database solutions and services. It will also include implementing, monitoring, and optimizing databases for vulnerabilities.

This position also partners with DNV Business Analytics, Product Managers, program delivery staff, software vendors and external development partners to provide Database services.

This position will be based out in any of our DNV offices in the US.

What You'll Do

  • Manage and maintain development, staging, and production SQL Server environments
  • Provide SQL DBA support based on SQL monitoring and maintenance solutions, and respond to SQL alerts
  • Develop and maintain data integration ETL and data load jobs
  • Perform code review on SQL codes written by Software Developers
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot database issues in collaboration with other team members
  • Provide support and maintain SQL solutions to ensure stable operation of our IT applications and tools
  • Review user securities, data access requirements, and other system security requirements
  • Interface with internal stake holders, clients to clarify project requirements
  • Assist in building automation standards for repeated, routine database tasks
  • Assist in development, efficiency improvements and implementation of database policies and procedures for data security and integrity

Position Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline (equivalent work experience related to Database Administration is also going to be considered)
  • Minimum of 2-3 years' experience as a database administrator on Microsoft SQL server
  • Experience writing T-SQL stored procedures, functions, views, and complex queries
  • Experience working with both internal on-premises SQL Servers and cloud Azure SQL databases
  • Familiarity with SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS components of MSSQL
  • Familiarity in SQL Query tuning by Profiler/indexing, understanding optimizer and execution plans
  • Knowledge of database security, backup, recovery, and performance monitoring
  • Good Communication and Multi-tasking skills and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening

What is Preferred:

  • Experience in Microsoft SQL Servers (2016 or 2019), Azure SQL, Azure VMs
  • Knowledge of Azure DevOps methodology, Azure Data Factory
  • PowerShell scripting language
  • Usage of Idera SQL Compliance Manager, Kingsway Soft Integration Toolkit, Redgate SQL Tools
  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts and design, such as TCP/IP protocol, DNS, SMTP, etc.
  • Git, SVN (SQL Source Control)
  • Working experience in MS Dynamics 365 or in any other CRM tool would be a plus
  • Experience with Atlassian JIRA
